Isuzu mu-X vs D-Max: Which One Is Right for Your Lifestyle?

Both share the same legendary 4JJ1 engine family, but they serve very different purposes. The mu-X is the family SUV; the D-Max is the workhorse. We break down fuel economy differences, cabin comfort, payload capacity, and, crucially, the long-term service costs you should factor in before buying.

Isuzu Parts: What You're Actually Buying

Understanding the three parts categories, genuine, aftermarket, and reconditioned, so you can make informed decisions

Isuzu Genuine vs Isuzu Select vs Best Value Isuzu Parts: An Honest Comparison

Not all parts are created equal, and in Kenya's market, the gap can be significant. Genuine Isuzu parts carry a manufacturer warranty and exact fitment. Quality Isuzu Select parts (aftermarket) can be a smart, cost-effective option. Best value parts have their place but require trust in the supplier. Here's how to decide what's right for each repair type.

Isuzu Service Parts 101: Filters, Belts & Fluids, What They Do and When to Change Them

Your D-Max or mu-X has three filter types, two belts that need periodic attention, and a handful of fluids that are often overlooked until something fails. This guide walks through each one in plain language: what it does, the signs it needs changing, and what happens if you ignore it too long on Kenya's roads.

Why Is My Car Overheating? A Step-by-Step Diagnosis Guide for Kenyan Roads

Overheating is one of the most common and most damaging problems on Kenya's roads, especially in Nairobi traffic during the long rains. The Migori and Kisumu region gets some of the heaviest rainfall in the country. Waterlogged roads, flooded crossings, and reduced visibility create conditions your vehicle needs to be ready for. This checklist covers wipers, tyres, brakes, underbody protection, and the one electrical check most drivers forget, all specifically relevant to our local road conditions.

Brake Pads: How to Tell When They Need Replacing (Without Going to a Garage)

Your brakes are the one system you should never gamble on. The good news is your car will usually tell you long before there's a crisis, if you know what to listen and feel for. This guide covers the four warning signs: the squeal, the grind, the pulling, and the longer stopping distance. Plus, we explain why "just a little more life in them" thinking tends to end expensively.

Engine Saved

Caught Just in Time: A Toyota Prado Cooling System Failure Averted

A Prado owner came in for a routine service and mentioned his temperature gauge was "a little higher than usual." What our inspection found was a cracked radiator hose about to give way entirely, one that would have caused catastrophic overheating within days. We replaced the hose set, flushed the coolant, and pressure-tested the system. His engine is fine. The repair cost Ksh 8,500. A new engine would have been a very different conversation.

Isuzu mu-X Transmission Shudder: The Diagnosis That Saved a Gearbox

The customer described it as a "shudder at around 60 km/h that disappears at higher speed." That specific symptom pointed us straight to a torque converter clutch issue, a problem that, if left alone, typically ends in full transmission replacement. We performed a transmission fluid service with the correct Isuzu specification fluid, followed by a converter lock-up calibration. The shudder is completely gone, and the gearbox is healthy.
